The Quasi Deck Gilbert Crockett Mr. Post (8.25) is a stunning fusion of minimalist surrealism and digital distortion, fully embracing Quasi’s left-of-center aesthetic. The bottom graphic features a haunting, pixelated black-and-white skull centrally placed over a backdrop of cloud-like, amorphous shapes in powder blue and white. This stark contrast draws the eye immediately to the skull, which appears both ominous and glitched—like a relic from early internet art. Above the skull is a distorted, radiating sunburst rendered in a halftone dot pattern, giving the impression of a heatwave or cosmic signal.
Down each side of the deck, the brand’s name and the rider’s name are written in a warped gothic-style font, adding a historical-meets-modern edge. A QR code rests just beneath the skull, inviting interaction and aligning with Quasi’s multi-layered digital-meets-physical design sensibility. The inclusion of a clicking hand icon at the tail is a subtle nod to web interface culture, blurring the lines between tech and skate.
Quasi Skateboards is one of the most respected independent skateboard brands in the scene, known for its offbeat, avant-garde graphics, exceptional board quality, and a team that prioritizes substance over flash. Founded by Chad Bowers in the wake of Alien Workshop’s collapse in 2015, Quasi has quickly earned a cult-like following among skaters who value individuality, artistry, and raw talent. Their decks are manufactured in North America at trusted woodshops like PS Stix, ensuring elite construction and performance.
Gilbert Crockett, hailing from Richmond, Virginia, is widely recognized for his precise, stylish street skating and creative eye. Originally known for his time with Alien Workshop, Crockett brought his strong aesthetic sense and technical prowess to Quasi, becoming a foundational figure in shaping the brand’s image. Off the board, he is deeply interested in design and craftsmanship—something reflected in his approach to both his skating and his signature graphics. Crockett is also co-founder of the Richmond-based shop and label Venue, and he’s known for his vintage-inspired fashion sense and interest in traditional American culture.
Sized at 8.25 inches, this deck strikes a balance between control and versatility, ideal for street skating and park sessions alike. The Mr. Post graphic stands as a testament to both Crockett’s taste and Quasi’s artistic direction—part digital relic, part gothic riddle, all style.
