Nike SB Shoe Vertebrae (University Blue)

The Nike SB Vertebrae in University Blue is a skateboarding shoe that seamlessly blends modern performance features with a retro aesthetic. The upper combines leather and textile materials, reinforced with double-row stitching for enhanced durability. Designed with minimal layers around the toe area, the shoe ensures an easy flick, catering to technical skaters. The generative outsole pattern provides superior grip and board feel, essential for maintaining control during intricate maneuvers. A foam midsole offers responsive cushioning, while the rubber outsole ensures lasting wear. The University Blue colorway, complemented by Sail accents, pays homage to Nike's heritage palettes, giving the shoe a timeless appeal.

Nike Skateboarding (Nike SB) was officially launched in 2002, marking Nike's dedicated entry into the skateboarding market. The division was spearheaded by Sandy Bodecker, whose vision was to understand and integrate into the skateboarding culture authentically. Prior to this, Nike had made attempts to enter the skateboarding scene in 1997 but faced challenges due to the strong presence of established brands and a lack of acceptance within the skate community. With the formation of Nike SB, the brand introduced the SB Dunk Low, featuring a padded tongue and collar, along with Zoom Air insoles, tailored specifically for skateboarding needs. Over the years, Nike SB has grown exponentially, collaborating with various artists, skaters, and brands, and has become a significant influence in both skateboarding and sneaker cultures.

Our Monrovia shop has been a staple since 1997, followed by our Claremont location in 2014, and our South Pasadena shop opening its doors in 2022.
