Mike Sinclair is a prominent figure in the skateboarding industry, renowned for his extensive contributions as a team manager, judge, and innovator. Sinclair's journey in skateboarding began in the mid-1980s. He started skating around 1986 or 1987 and later worked at Endless Grind, a skate shop in North Carolina. He was a sponsored skater for a period until he suffered a knee injury, which led him to transition into industry roles.

 

Sinclair's career in the skateboarding industry spans over two decades, during which he has managed teams for several major brands, including Toy Machine, Foundation, Pig, and Nike SB. His role as a team manager involves coordinating schedules, planning tours, and nurturing the talents of both amateur and professional skateboarders. His dedication and expertise have been instrumental in the success and growth of these brands.

In addition to team management, Sinclair has played a significant role in skateboarding events and competitions. He has served as a judge for prestigious contests, including the X Games, and was instrumental in developing the Real Street series, which focuses on street skateboarding and showcases the skills of skateboarders in real-world environments.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sinclair channeled his passion for skateboarding into innovation by founding Slappy Trucks. Over two years, he meticulously developed and refined the design of these skateboard trucks, experimenting with various components to achieve optimal performance. Slappy Trucks offers a range of widths and three constructions: ST1 Standard for durability, ST1 Hollow for a lighter option, and ST1 Hollow Inverted for premium grind clearance.

Sinclair's influence extends beyond his professional roles; he has been featured in media outlets such as Thrasher Magazine and the Viceland television series "King of the Road," further solidifying his status as a respected and influential figure in the skateboarding community.
